Often times when asked why we bottle feed, our first thought 'is this a trick question?' Honestly, we have tried bottle raising, dam raising, and a mixture of both. We have chosen to bottle raise kids............well.........because we love it!
Is it work? Of course it is! But the benefits, for us, are far more with bottle raising our kids than not. Personality traits are
something that is very important to us as well, by having such one-on-one with each kid we learn more than is their body type right or which has better markings. We also look for which will make a better pet or who will be good as breeding stock or as a milker.
By bottle raising our kids, they are ready for human interaction. Can you get an obnoxious bottle baby? Yes, but all kids are extremely trainable and should be trained. But for the most part
bottle babies look to their humans as part of their herd, you aren't just the nipple holder!

Because our buck Eros was a bottle baby, we can easily control him - even when the does are full swing & tease mode. But we also knew his personality made him a very good option for a breeding buck, his looks & body type 'aced the deal'.
By understanding a goats personality, we can offer far more than a does potential milking ability - we can give pointers to new goat
owners on their kid choices when the time comes to sell our little bundles.
Bottle feeding also have the advantage of helping a new goat owner bond with their newest addition, easing the transition
for both. And lastly, we bottle feed because we are quite selfish.
There is nothing, outside of our own human families, better than cuddling with our little ones as they suckle their bottles greedily with their favorite toys, US!
