GMO, Genetically Modified Organisms, have been in the spotlight again in recent months. Monsantos, the leader of GMO seeds, cites study after study, showing the safety of GMO crops.
GMO seeds are said to help with world hunger!  But how true are these studies?  Though the internet is abuzz with stars in the limelight, studies of the true hazards of GMO foods  is taking a back page in newspapers or in the media at large.  So how safe is GMO foods?
A study done in 2012 by Profit Pro has finally reaching more people, thanks to the website Moms Across America March to Label GMOs.  The GMO corn tested by Profit Pro shows levels of chlorides, formaldehyde, and glyphosate in numbers far higher than those allowed by the US Environmental Protection Agency (FDA). The levels tested hit highs of 60 ppm, 200 ppm, and 13 ppm respectively.

Another study reported that Glyphosate immobilizes
minerals like manganese, colbalt, iron, zinc, and copper.
Dr. Don Huber stated that these elements missing in GMO corn "are essential for normal physiological functions in soils, plants, and animals."

Comparisions of natural corn and GMO corn shows a far bigger difference than hybrid versus heirloom.  Nutritional benefits of 'real corn' having calcium, magnesium, and manganses that are not available in the GMO corn.

In yet another study done by the Friends of the Earth International, tested the urine of 182 European city dwellers, from 18 countries.  What they found was potentially dangerous levels of glyphosate.  Glyphosate, also known as Roundup, has been linked to birth defects, problems with the human endocrine system, higher risks of cancer and miscarriage.

Even though Europe has already stopped GMO crops from being grown in their various countries, glyphosate is still widely used for weed control on farms producing cereal crops, fruit orchards, olive groves, and in  vineyards.  Roundup is also used in public spaces in Europe.  GMO soy is also imported in large amounts by European countries.

Though Monsanto continues to say their product does not
pose a health risk to humans, independent studies are finally showing the truth.  So how long will it take the USA to finally stop Monsanto?

So tell me, what do you want to eat?

Blessings
Brenda Lee
